WILLIAM BATESON was born July 04, 1828 in Ohio, and died December 16, 1904 in Leavenworth ,County,Kansas, Tonganoxie, KS. He married AMANDA MELVINA LASH March 26, 1854 in McSeair County,Illinois, daughter of JOHN LASH and ELLEN UNKNOWN. She was born May 22, 1834 in Ohio, and died November 17, 1906 in Leavenworth, County, Kansas, Tonganoxie, KS.

Death of An Old Settler

Will Bateson, an old settler of this neighborhood, died last Friday, from some unknown cause. The funeral services were held by Rev. Ballard, Saturday, and the remains were buried in Hubble hill cemetery. The deceased was born July 4, 1828, therefore being in his 77th year. He was the father of thirteen children, six of whom with the wife survive him. A few days before his  death worms would fall from Mr. Bateson and some of them were quite long. It seems that as a result of dropsy worms settled under the skin on various parts of his body and occasionally they would work through. This horrible affliction soon resulted in his death.

Mrs . Bateson Dead

Mrs.. Bateson, for many years a resident of this vicinity, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Ben McKeehen Saturday morning at 8:30 o`clock, after a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon by Rev. Ballard in the Friends church and the interment was in Hubbel Hill cemetery. Mrs. Amanda Melvina Lash was born in Ohio May 22, 1834, and moved to Illinois with her parents in her childhood, where she lived until she was united in marriage to William Bateson, March 26th, 1854. To their union were born eleven children, five of whom and her husband having gone before. In 1881 she united with the Baptist church of which she has been a true and faithful member ever since. She said she was ready to meet her God in Heaven. For the past seven years she has resided with her daughter Mrs.Ben McKeehen.
